Fox To Release 'Avatar' DVD Three Times In Next Year

According to Reuters, the release date for Twentieth Century Fox's 'Avatar' to go to DVD and Blu-ray is next month, but fans will have to wait for the extra features and 3D version of the movie.

Film features and extras for the movie will be released in November, and on an unspecified date in 2011 the 3D version will be announced. The initial release has been paired with Earth Day on April 22nd.

New York Peforming Arts Center To Get $75 Million Renovation

According to The New York Times, the City Center in Manhattan will renovate its1943 performing arts landmark with designs by Polshek Partnership Architects.

Before making exterior changes to the neo-Moorish style building, Polshek Partnership Architects must approve the alterations. Seating, lighting, and sightlines in the building will be renovated as well.

Facebook Surpasses Google As Most Visited U.S. Site

According to Digital Media Wire, audience measurement firm Hitwise reported that Facebook became the most visited Web site in the U.S. last week, surpassing long-time leader Google.

Posting close margins, Facebook garnered the top spot with 7.07 percent of Internet visits beating out Google's 7.03 percent.

British 9 Year Olds Ready For High School

According to BlackStarNews.com, twins Paula and Peter Imafidon are just 9 years old, yet are child prodegies fully prepared for high school. They will be the first to enter high school at 9 years old.

Last year the London pair aced University of Cambridge's advanced mathematics test, and became the youngest to pass.

The twins' father, Chris, and mother, Ann, immigrated to Britain from Nigeria over 30 years ago and have three older children, who are also overachievers.

The father says the Excellence in Education program for disadvantaged inner-city youth is responsible for his children's success.However, he still humbly refuses to put any of his children on a pedestal of any sort.

"Every child is a genius," he said

Announcement For All Black People to Leave Walmart

According to Associated Press, a Walmart employee in south New Jersey got on the store's loud speaker Sunday night and announced that all Black people needed to leave the store.

A male voice came on the store's loud speaker and announced,"Attention Walmart customers: All black people leave the store now."

Shortly after a manager came on the loud speaker and apologized for the statement. Although the company insists they're unsure of who made the comment, they were extremely apologetic for the occurence.

Officials with Wal-Mart Stores Inc., based in Bentonville, Ark., said that the announcement was "unacceptable" and that they're trying to determine who made it — whether an employee or a rogue patron — and how it happened.

Lil Wayne Goes to Jail For a Year

According to BlackNews.com, rapper Lil Wayne was sentenced to a year in jail in New York City, for having a loaded gun on his tour bus.He had a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic gun on his bus and pleaded guilty to illegal posession of a weapon.

Lil Wayne is a Grammy Award-winning rapper who has been one of Hip Hop's most profitable and influential figures in recent years. He respectfully bowed to fans and supporters after being led out of a New York City courtroom.

Pfizer's Patient Assistance Program Gives Patients Free Medicine

According to BlackPressUSA.com, some pharmaceutical companies have addressed the financial restraints of the recession by opening patient assistance programs.

“Because most Americans rely on their employer for health insurance, losing your job often means losing your health benefits, too,” said Millicent Gorham, Executive Director of the National Black Nurses Association.

However, many companies are willing to work with patients to ensure some type of reasonable health care. For example, Pfizer allow eligible patients to get prescriptions for free or at a reduced price for twelve months or until they get insurance, through their program called MAINTAIN.

Former NBA Player Assists With U.S. Census

He will collaborate with the U.S. Census board in reaching out to various black communities to encourage more people to participate in the U.S. Census. As a result, he will have the knowledge and resources to advance his own organization, The Dikembe Mutumbo Foundation. The Dikembe Mutumbo Foundation's goal is to promote equality and empowerment among people, particularly those in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Black Churches Pledge $50 Million to Rebuild Haiti

According to BlackPressUSA.com, five baptist organizations are willing to raise $50 million to assist in sustaining services and facilities as well as donations for survivors of the Haiti catastrophe.

The African-American Baptist Mission Collaboration (AABMC) is the head of the $50 million operation to rebuild Haiti through a collection of various church donations. The organization represents over 40,000 churches.
