South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford has backed out of a promise to release personal financial records in order to prove he did not use state money to visit his mistress. After Sanford said in an Associated Press interview that his mistress is his soul mate, Sanford's spokesman said the governor will not speak to the media about personal matters anymore or release his records.
The state is now investigating Sanford's travel to see an Argentine woman. (Associated Press)
