Lindsay's "colored" gaffe ignorance, not racism
11/14/2008
by fprideIt’s much more interesting to watch celebrities trip over the line separating ignorance and racism than say, viewing us regular people do it.
Case in point: Lindsay Lohan’s recent use of the word “colored” to describe president-elect Barack Obama.

The Cosby family made real
11/07/2008
by fprideBlack folk know that there are tons of variations of the black family — some of which are not broken or irregularly dysfunctional as much of mass media suggests. Note: I use the word irregular because it is my belief that all families have some sort of dysfunction that reflects the threads of humanity.

09/26/2008
by fprideThe other day, I received one of those frantic forwards that was urging non-Republican women to band together and support Oprah because groups like The Republican National Committee Women’s Coalition were boycotting her show. Reason? The media mogul refuses to have Sarah Palin on before the election.

Pop This!: Ciara takes sexy too far
09/19/2008
by fprideIt’s true. As women, we have beautiful bodies. I mean sometimes I just look in the mirror and am awed with all my blessings.
With such beauty however, comes responsibility, especially in a world that sees our bodies as commodities and advertising props.
Pop This!: Me and Black Television
09/12/2008
by fprideI am going to go out on a limb. I bet there isn’t one black adult who hasn’t wished for better black television programming. I mean it’s not such a far-fetched desire given our options.
